C’est une question fréquente, et la réponse réside dans la différence de pression. À haute altitude, la cabine est pressurisée pour permettre aux passagers de respirer normalement. Cette pression maintient les portes fermement scellées contre le cadre de l’avion. En pratique, il serait physiquement impossible d’ouvrir une porte en plein vol, même si on le voulait, à cause de la force exercée par la pression.
