What are the requirements to apply?
You don’t need any flying experience to apply: training can start from scratch. If you already have aviation experience — a PPL, night rating or flight hours — your profile can be taken into account. That may reduce the number of flight hours to complete in the practical phase, and therefore adjust the cost of your programme.
Right to study in the EU
Being able to follow the training within the European Union.
Right to live and work in the EU, the UK or Morocco
Required for the Ryanair job offer.
Minimum age
Be 17 years old at the start of the training.
Clean criminal record
Required as part of the programme.
Level of education
Baccalaureate or equivalent — all tracks are accepted.
Medical fitness
Class 1 medical certificate — the mandatory pilot medical, at an approved centre.

Already have flying experience? It is taken into account to reduce the volume of the practical phase. For example, a PPL(A), a night rating or flight hours already flown can lighten the course — and therefore the cost of your training.
How does the selection work?
All candidates start with the same online selection. Following this assessment, your results determine which programme(s) you are eligible for. You then choose the route you wish to pursue and access the corresponding selection steps.
Online selection
A first, fully remote assessment, available whenever you like, with results valid for 12 months.

Select your route
You can retake the selection after a 2-month wait
If your results don’t allow you to continue the process at this stage, you can submit a new application after this period.
This time lets you prepare better before another attempt.
Enrolment
An adviser tells you which application and enrolment documents to submit in order to draw up your training agreement.
On-site assessment
A one-day assessment held each month at the Astonfly campus in Paris-Saclay-Versailles, to assess your ability to work in a team and your motivation.

In English- After the on-site assessmentAfter the assessments, Astonfly gathers the results and the necessary elements, then sends your application to Ryanair for review. No further action is required from the candidate at this stage.
Final validation and enrolment
After Ryanair's response, your Astonfly adviser informs you of the decision. If validated, they tell you which enrolment documents to submit in order to draw up your training agreement. A few days before the start date, Ryanair will email you your job offer to sign before a notary, formalising the commitment.
Your Astonfly adviser remains your point of contact throughout the process: they explain your results, your route and the next steps for the programme you are eligible for.

Four sessions are held each year. To prepare your application with peace of mind, we recommend applying 3 to 6 months before your target intake.

Payment spread over the length of your training
You don’t pay for your whole training at enrolment. A first instalment confirms your place, then payments are spread over 18 months.
The payment schedule is set out in your training agreement before it begins, so you can plan for each instalment.
This first instalment confirms your enrolment and reserves your place in the chosen session.
The remaining amount is paid by monthly SEPA direct debit, over an 18-month schedule.
A guarantee unique in Europe, designed to protect your journey
Most failures occur during the theoretical phase, even before practical training begins. Astonfly is today the only school in Europe to offer a contractual safeguard allowing the student, in the event of failure or withdrawal at the end of this phase, to recover the full amount paid for the theory, subject to the conditions set out in the contract.
This unique guarantee lets you commit to the training with greater peace of mind, limiting financial risk at the point where it matters most.

Pass the theory before committing to the rest
In the event of failure or withdrawal at the end of the nine months of theoretical training, Astonfly refunds the full amount paid for this phase, subject to the contractual conditions being met.

Unused flight hours are refunded
If your training stops during the practical phase, the amounts corresponding to flight hours not yet flown are refunded to you under the terms set out in the training agreement.

You first clear the course’s main academic hurdle before fully committing to the practical phase. If you fail the theory, you can leave the training without losing the amounts paid for this phase.
