Former engineer

Astonfly was my number 1 choice for my professional pilot training after a career as an aeronautical engineer. The school’s professionalism, the experienced instructors and the modern aircraft fleet prepared me from the start for the standards of my first employers.

I started my career single-pilot on the Diamond DA62, joined Ryanair with my training partner less than a year after leaving school, and today I’m a first officer at Transavia on the 737NG.

The demands and level required during my Astonfly training ensured a surprise-free transition to my 737NG type rating. I certainly approached my training seriously, but I always took huge pleasure in flying at this superb school.

Having done my integrated airline pilot training at Astonfly between 2018 and 2020, I wanted to share my experience. First, I wanted to highlight the quality of the teaching. Indeed, the instructors make us progress to high standards, which proves an asset in airline selections. What’s more, the fact that the school is based at Toussus-le-Noble lets us fly in demanding and varied airspace, which professionalises us from the first flight hours. The quality of the equipment made available to students, notably the aircraft, is also worth mentioning. They are all modern aircraft, very well equipped and with rigorous, quality maintenance thanks to the Astontec service. Finally, I wanted to thank the whole Astonfly team for their kindness, their support and their care throughout my training. Technical resources

ATP Integrated training completed between 2018 and 2020. The quality of the technical and teaching resources is an excellent base for the training (the rest lies mainly in personal work). A few small scheduling setbacks occurred during the training, all the more so as it took place during the health crisis. However, the instruction team’s involvement made up for these inconveniences. ASTONFLY’s high level of demand in its airline pilot training lets students gain skills more than suited to the market. The school’s new partnership proves the quality of its training. Today, after a short period of instructing at a flying club, I was able to join a private jet company. Thanks again to the whole team of instructors.

A human experience

A truly human experience! I did my ATP Integrated training at Astonfly to become an airline pilot, between 2018 and 2020, and I keep an excellent memory of it. Wonderful encounters, among the ground staff, the instructors and the other students — there are many stories to tell. Despite a few scheduling hiccups, the instruction is of quality and the training promises a bright future in the airline world. After a path marred by the health crisis, I managed to find my place within an airline, first in a commercial role, then luck smiled on me a few months later with a place as First Officer on the Mustang at ASTONJET! The great advantage of this group is that they never forget the alumni and everything is put in place to ease our integration. Today I fly a twin-jet and the missions are all wonderfully change-of-scene. If you have a doubt, don’t hesitate — it’s never too late to live your dream :)

Career change

I joined Astonfly in December 2019 as part of a career change, with the goal of realising a project close to my heart for several years. I finished my integrated training in February 2021, in a context marked by the health crisis. Despite this unusual period, the school knew how to adapt and maintain a high level of training.

Throughout my path, I appreciated the instructors’ professionalism, their availability and their willingness to pass on their experience. The teaching quality, the modern fleet and the infrastructure allowed me to progress in an environment very close to commercial aviation standards.

This training gave me far more than technical skills: it taught me rigour, discipline, workload management and crew work, qualities essential to the airline pilot profession.

Looking back, I can say that choosing Astonfly was the right decision to succeed in my career change. I recommend this school to anyone who wants to change career and give themselves the best chance of succeeding in their goal of becoming an airline pilot.

Straight after school

After a science baccalaureate, I joined Astonfly’s ATP integrated training. Thanks to passionate instructors, a modern fleet, high-performing simulators and quality facilities, I was able to acquire the skills, certificates and licences needed to start my pilot career.

I then joined Astonjet as a medical-flight coordinator before moving up to the first officer role on the Cessna Citation Mustang at the same company.

Personalised follow-up

Career change

After a few years as a navigator in the Air Force, I decided to retrain as a civil pilot to make use of the military experience I had gained. Looking for a school to take the CPL licence and the IR ME rating, my choice quickly settled on Astonfly.

Indeed, the use of a modern fleet, the issuing of EASA ratings and the location in the Paris region were decisive. The bet paid off, since after my training I started working as an instructor, then as a pilot in business aviation, then on Airbus at Corsair and now at Air France.

Engagement personnel

I completed my ATP integrated airline pilot training at Astonfly between December 2019 and November 2021. On leaving the school, I had the opportunity to join Astonjet to work on the ground and, shortly after, to start as a first officer on the C525 M2. The school’s teaching tools and the quality of instruction allowed me, through personal work and commitment, to reach a fully competitive level in the market for pilots without experience.

The school’s environment is rigorous, the instructors are demanding, and the training is well standardised, giving students an excellent working framework (the school is the tool you have to become a pilot, but personal commitment is the key to quality).

Trained in 2 years

I was fortunate to complete my integrated training at Astonfly between 2018 and 2020. The quality of the aircraft, the premises and the instructors’ strong commitment allowed me to obtain my CPL IR ME in 2 years despite the context of the health crisis.

The school trains us, from the very first moment, for the airline pilot profession, and this is strongly felt when we’re in the simulator with pilots who trained elsewhere (notably during the MCC).

Thanks to the teaching quality of the training, I found my first airline pilot job the year after finishing. I am fully satisfied with my time at Astonfly and I strongly recommend anyone wanting to become a pilot to enrol!

Trained in 18 months

This school near Paris was growing fast, with quality service and a state-of-the-art fleet similar to airliners.

Also renowned for its theory and practical teaching, it enabled me to meet airlines’ requirements right at the end of my training, such as safety and adaptability.

Airline standard

A former Astonfly student for my ATPL training from 2018 to 2020, I greatly enjoyed my two years at the school, thanks to which I was able to reach the standard to join an airline.

Throughout the course, the various instructors who trained me and the teaching team gave me all the skills needed to pass the exams, but also the selections. It’s the quality of the training level that enabled a smooth transition to the type rating and the line.

I was lucky to have wonderful instructors who taught me the profession through flights and simulators. I started in business aviation, then joined Air France on the A320.

Career change

After several years as a firefighter, I chose to move into aviation by joining ASTONFLY. There I found a demanding school, with high-quality trainers and technical resources perfectly suited to preparing future pilots.

At the end of my training, I joined ASTONFLY as an instructor before moving to ASTONJET as Captain on the Cessna Citation Mustang C510. Today I manage a team of 15 pilots and oversee the operation of a fleet of 6 aircraft, a path made possible by the solid foundations acquired at ASTONFLY.

Perseverance

I joined Astonfly in September 2017. After ten intensive months on the ATPL, I obtained all my theory certificates and started my flight training. My path had its ups and downs, but the mutual support between students, the instructors’ availability and their commitment allowed me to overcome the difficulties, gain confidence and develop the technical and non-technical qualities essential to the airline pilot profession.

After a year of practical training, I obtained my airline pilot qualification in October 2019, ready to apply to airlines. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 crisis abruptly halted recruitment. I then worked for three years as a radar echo pilot at Orly and then at the Athis-Mons area control centre, while keeping the goal of reaching a cockpit.

In 2022, I obtained my instructor rating. During this period, I had failures in airline selection and received many rejections. Yet I never gave up. Every difficulty let me learn, mature and progress. I sought to develop my skills, gain more experience and started instructing at a flying club.

In 2024, I had the opportunity to join Astonfly, this time as an instructor, to train the future pilots bound for Ryanair. Finally, in April 2026, I joined an airline based in Germany, where I now serve as First Officer on the A320neo.

Alongside this, I continue to instruct at Astonfly in my free time. For me it’s a way to pass on everything I learned along my path, in both general and commercial aviation, and to share with future pilots the demands, challenges and values of this profession.

Rêve réalisé

An Astonfly student between 2022 and 2024, I now have the chance to live my dream flying the Boeing 737 at ASL Airlines.

The demands, the instructors’ commitment and the quality of their training played an essential role in my path and allowed me to reach this goal.

International cargo

I chose Astonfly for its modern glass-cockpit fleet, its proximity to Paris and its reputation. The training and the instructors' guidance gave me solid foundations to take on the airline pilot profession.

A 2024 graduate, I joined a cargo airline straight away as a First Officer on the A330. The training I received at Astonfly meant I was quickly comfortable with the demands of international cargo operations and the specifics of complex flights.

Business aviation then airline

I was fortunate to complete my pilot training at Astonfly, surrounded by passionate, demanding instructors who gave me solid foundations to begin my career.

This training let me enter the professional world quickly — first in business aviation, and today as a First Officer on the 737. I have excellent memories of my years at Astonfly and am very grateful for how far I've come since.

A320 transition

A well-structured course in a quality environment, surrounded by solid instructors. Astonfly's level of training gave me a faster, easier transition onto the Airbus A320 at Wizz Air.

Instructor then captain

I did my integrated training at Astonfly from March 2020 and I'm very happy to have chosen this school. The instructors are passionate, highly professional and technically excellent. The aircraft and facilities are faultless, which lets you focus fully on learning. The training is serious, demanding and perfectly aligned with the realities of the airline pilot profession. The operations manuals also reflect the standards and level of rigour expected by the airlines.

After my training I had the opportunity to work as an FI then CRI instructor at Astonfly, before joining Astonjet as a Captain on the C510 Mustang. I remember Astonfly as a demanding, career-building school fully focused on its students' success.

In 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, I chose to trust Astonfly. Facing an uncertain context, I wanted a school that was financially robust, reliable and able to keep training me through the crisis.

The quality of the theory teaching meant that, after graduating, I could teach myself alongside the pilot job. The flight instructors are competent, standardised and good teachers. Business aviation

After two years of training at Astonfly, my goal was clear: I wanted to work in business aviation. Just two months after leaving the school, I had the chance to join GlobeAir and take my first steps in this world I'm passionate about.

Since then, I've had the pleasure of flying alongside exceptional colleagues, discovering sometimes very particular airfields and, above all, living experiences that have taught me a great deal.

Business aviation is a field that is both very demanding and incredibly exciting. It calls for rigour, adaptability and a real ability to step outside your comfort zone.

No ceiling

There isn't just one path after the ATPL. People always talk about the airlines, short-haul then long-haul. It's a fine path. It isn't the only one.

My path began at Astonfly, in Toussus. A demanding training, instructors who know you, genuine follow-up from the first flight to the test. And then I stayed. As an instructor first, then as chief instructor. Training students where you learned yourself is where you truly measure a school's quality. The standards, the teaching, the human investment: I lived them as a student, then carried them as an instructor and then Chief Instructor.

Today I'm a freelance pilot and entrepreneur. I support owners around the world on very light jets and turboprops, from ferrying to getting to grips with their aircraft. And I founded my company, Veejo, a global network connecting pilots and instructors with the operators looking for them, in more than 30 countries.

Astonfly taught me to fly. But above all, it taught me that in aviation everything is possible for those who put in the work. The airlines, business aviation, instruction, entrepreneurship. There's no ceiling in this job. It's up to you to choose your route.
